New music in January

There's a ton of great new LPs out this month led by Run the Jewels, The XX, Bonobo, and The Proper Ornaments. First off the AudioHammock team features new music from The Proper Ornaments before going round robin to review the others. If you're not familiar with the Proper Ornaments they are an indie rock band from the United Kingdom formed by James Hoare (previously from Ultimate Painting) and Max Oscarnold (also in Toy). Those two bands are worth checking out in their own right but Hoare and Oscarnold combine here for a very carefree and enduring slacker sound that permeates long after the album ends. Their album Foxhole was just released on Slumberland records and is a great addition to any digital or vinyl collection. Russ speaks on the podcast how he picked up the special edition for only $14.

The Proper Ornaments featured tracks include:

  • Cremated (Blown Away)
  • Bridge By A Tunnel
  • Memories

After that Russ, Dylan, and Tim speak on a multitude of heavy hitting bands and artists slated for release with new music this year, including: The Shins, Spoon, Gorillaz, Vampire Weekend, Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, Beck, Kendrick, The National, Queens of the Stone Age, and more.
